How about France ?
I'm from France; therefore, I might talk on this site about the global situation on climate change; nevertheless, I'm interested to check what's going on in my country of origin. The problem of global warming invovles the entire world, but this page will look at what's going on right now in France to reverse climate change.
French experts on Global Warming
In February 2007, a group of French experts on globalwarming are putting up a report about the situation. This is the fourth report of its kind in France by this group of experts called "Groupe d'Experts Intergouvernemental sur l'Evolution du Climat" (GIEC).
Act fast about climate change
The figures brought up by the GIEC are striking. They ask for a rapid action. Since the last report in 2001, they noticed an increase in the level of water in the oceans, the melting of ice is speeding up in Groenland and the emission of greenhouse gases is rising. The computer generated previsions are not good at all. Global Warming is coming towards the high end of predictions.
Politics have to decide
The GIEC states that their report is useless if officials don't act right now. The pointed out that the USA have not signed the Kyoto treaty.
Before the end of this century, the situation will be hopeless, say the GIEC. The levels of greenhouse gas' emissions have to lower by 2020.
A world conference is starting in Paris on February 2nd, inititated by France's President Chirac.
Heat wave in France
In 2003, in France, there was a strong heat wave. Many elderly people died during this hot summer.
